Control Dashboard
After logging in you land on the HMI Control Panel — the main screen for operating your centrifuge. Everything you need to run the machine is on this page.
Layout Overview
The dashboard is split into three columns:
| Column | What's there |
|---|---|
| Left | Live RPM gauge |
| Centre | Live metrics (force, time, status) and the control inputs |
| Right | Start / Stop buttons and preset list |
At the very top there is a status bar showing the device serial number and a WiFi icon (tap it to see which network the device is on).
The RPM Gauge
The large circular gauge on the left shows the current RPM in real time. It updates continuously while the machine is running.
- The arc goes from 0 to 6,000 RPM
- The colour changes from cyan → blue → amber → red as speed increases
- The small rotor icon in the centre spins along with the machine
- The needle moves smoothly as the RPM changes
Live Metrics (Centre Panel)
Below the top bar, three cards show the current state of the machine:
| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Centrifugal Force | Current RCF in ×g (calculated automatically from RPM) |
| Time Remaining | Countdown in MM:SS format |
| Status block | Active user, machine state, set RPM, set RCF, set time, motor status, door lock, firmware version |
The Machine State badge shows one of:
- 🟢 RUNNING — centrifuge is spinning
- ⚫ STAND BY — ready and waiting
- 🟡 STOPPING — decelerating to a stop
Setting Parameters
Before you can start a run, set three parameters:
Set RPM
Type a value in the Target RPM box (0–6,000) and click SET. The RCF value is calculated and shown automatically — you do not need to set both.
Set RCF
If you prefer to work in g-force, type the RCF value (in ×g) and click SET. RPM is calculated automatically.
RPM and RCF are linked — changing one updates the other. Your administrator may restrict you to entering only one of them. If a field is greyed out, it means your access level only allows the other unit.
Set Duration
Enter the run time in MM:SS format (e.g. 05:30 for 5 minutes 30 seconds) and click SET.
Starting a Run
Check the machine state
The status badge must show STAND BY before you can start. If the machine is already running, the Start button is disabled.
Set your parameters
Enter RPM (or RCF) and duration, then click SET for each.
Click START
The large green ▶ START button becomes active once you have set both a speed and a duration. Click it to begin.
The machine state changes to RUNNING, the gauge needle moves, and the time countdown begins.
Stopping a Run
Click the ■ STOP button (red outline) at any time to stop the machine early. The motor will decelerate and the state will switch to STOPPING, then back to STAND BY.
What Happens When the Run Finishes
When the timer reaches zero, the machine stops automatically. The time card resets to 00:00 and the state returns to STAND BY. The completed run is saved to Run History.
Presets (Quick Launch)
Below the control inputs is a horizontal row of preset chips. Each chip is a saved multi-step run programme.
- Click a chip to immediately start that preset
- Click the + button on the right to go to the Presets page to create or manage presets
When a preset is running, a banner appears above the controls showing:
- Preset name
- Current step (e.g.
2/4) - What the current step is doing (e.g.
● Holding 3000 RPM — 02:15 left) - A timeline of all steps (completed ones are fully coloured, the active step shows progress, upcoming steps are dimmed)
- A ⏹ Stop Preset button to abort at any time
When the preset finishes (or is stopped), the banner changes colour:
- 🟢 Green — all steps completed successfully
- 🟡 Amber — stopped early by the user
- 🔴 Red — an error occurred
Click Close to dismiss the banner.
Device Goes Offline
If the centrifuge loses its network connection, you will see a toast notification at the top saying "Device Disconnected". The portal keeps retrying every 3 seconds automatically. When the device comes back online, the dashboard resumes live updates without needing to refresh.
Machine is Locked
If the administrator has locked the machine, clicking START will show a "Machine is locked" message. You will need to ask your administrator to unlock it. See the locked screen section below.
Locked Screen
If the device is locked, you are taken to a System is Down page showing:
- A pulsing lock icon
- Who locked it (Administrator or Service Provider)
- Contact information for help
You cannot operate the machine from this page. Contact your administrator.
