Control Dashboard
The Dashboard is the main screen for operating your centrifuge. You reach it immediately after logging in. It shows live data from the machine and gives you controls to set speed, time, and start or stop runs.
Top Bar
At the very top of the screen:
- Left side — shows the label
DEVICEand the serial number of the connected centrifuge (in monospace font) - Right side — a WiFi icon button. Tap it to see the name of the WiFi network (SSID) the centrifuge is connected to
Status Badge
Below the top bar is a status badge showing the current machine state:
| Badge | Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| STAND BY | Gray | Machine is idle and ready to start |
| RUNNING | Green | Machine is actively spinning |
| STOPPING | Amber | Machine is decelerating |
There is a small LED dot next to the badge that changes colour to match.
The RPM Gauge
The large circular gauge on the left side of the screen shows the current RPM in real time.
- The arc spans from 0 to 6,000 RPM
- The colour changes: cyan at low speed → blue → amber → red at high speed
- The tick marks label every 1,000 RPM
- The small rotor icon in the centre rotates along with the actual machine
- The needle moves smoothly as the speed changes
Timer Display
To the right of the gauge is the timer, showing remaining time in MM:SS format. It counts down in real time once the machine is running.
Setting Parameters
Three parameter cards appear in a row below the gauge:
SET RPM
Shows the speed target you have entered. Tap to open a number input and type a value between 0 and 6,000 RPM. You can also use the ± buttons to adjust in increments of 100 RPM.
SET RCF
Shows the RCF (centrifugal force in ×g) that corresponds to your RPM. Tap to enter a value directly — the RPM will be calculated automatically. Use the ± buttons to adjust in increments.
RPM and RCF are linked — changing one automatically updates the other. Your admin may restrict you to entering only RPM or only RCF. If a field is locked, you will see a note explaining the restriction.
SET TIME
Shows the run duration in MM:SS format. Tap to enter a time, or use the ± buttons to adjust in 30-second increments.
Start & Stop
Two large buttons appear in the middle of the screen:
▶ START (green)
Becomes active when:
- The machine is on STAND BY
- You have set both an RPM and a duration
Tap to begin the run. The machine will start spinning up and the timer will begin counting down.
While starting, the button shows RUNNING… and is disabled.
■ STOP (red outline)
Tap to stop the machine at any time during a run. The machine decelerates and returns to STAND BY. The run is saved to History with a Stopped status.
When a preset is running, this button changes to STOP PRESET.
Presets Row
Below the parameter cards is a horizontally scrollable row labelled PRESETS. Each chip is a saved multi-step programme.
- Tap a chip to immediately start that preset
- Tap the + button on the right to go to the Presets screen
Preset Banner (When a Preset is Running)
When a preset is active, a banner appears at the top of the screen showing:
- The preset name and current step (e.g.
1/4) - What is happening right now (e.g.
● Holding 3000 RPM — 02:15 left) - A timeline of all steps: completed steps are fully coloured, the active step shows progress, upcoming steps are dimmed
- A ⏹ Stop button to abort the preset
When the preset ends, the banner shows the result:
- 🟢 "Preset complete — All X steps finished"
- 🟡 "Preset stopped — Stopped at step X of Y"
- 🔴 "Preset stopped — error" with the error message
Tap Close to dismiss.
What to Do When the Machine Goes Offline
If your phone loses contact with the centrifuge, a "Device Disconnected" toast appears. The app keeps retrying every 3 seconds automatically. When contact is restored, the dashboard resumes without you needing to do anything.
If the device stays unreachable, you are taken to the Error Screen (see below).
Device Unreachable Screen
If the centrifuge is offline, you see:
- A broken connection icon
- "Device Unreachable"
- The last known IP address of the device
- A "Retry Connection" button — tap this to try again
- A "Change IP Address" link — if the device's IP has changed, tap this, enter the new IP, and tap Connect
Machine Locked Screen
If the device has been locked, trying to start shows a "Machine is locked" toast and you are taken to the Locked screen showing:
- A shaking lock icon
- "Machine Locked"
- The current RPM and machine state
- An Admin Key input field
- An Unlock button
Enter the admin key (default: ADMIN2026) and tap Unlock to restore control. If you enter the wrong key, the icon shakes and you see an error toast.
If you do not know the admin key, contact your device owner or administrator.
System Down Screen
If the device has a critical fault, you see:
- A pulsing warning triangle ⚠
- "System is Down"
- An error log card showing error codes (e.g.
ERR_DEVICE_LOCKED,CODE: 0x00FA) - Instructions to contact the manufacturer
You cannot operate the machine from this screen. Share the error codes with the support team.
Notifications
The app can send push notifications when things happen in the background:
| Event | Notification |
|---|---|
| Run finishes normally | ✅ "Run Complete — [X] RPM run finished successfully" |
| Run stopped early | ⚠ "Run Stopped Early — [X] remaining" |
| Device goes offline | ❌ "Device Unreachable — Cannot contact the centrifuge" |
Turn notifications on or off in Settings.
